Welcome to Ledger: Start Securing Your Crypto

Congratulations on taking the first step toward securing your digital assets. Ledger hardware wallets are the most trusted solution for managing and protecting your crypto — and this page will guide you through getting started safely and efficiently.

Whether you're new to crypto or a seasoned investor, setting up your Ledger device is simple. Let’s begin.

Step 1: Unbox Your Ledger Device

Inside your Ledger Nano X or Ledger Nano S Plus box, you’ll find:

The Ledger device

A USB cable

Recovery sheets

A keychain strap

Quick start guide

Important: If your device was already initialized or if any recovery words were pre-filled, do not use it. Return it immediately. Your device should be sealed and brand new.

Step 2: Download Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the companion app that allows you to manage your crypto assets, install apps, and check balances.

👉 Download Ledger Live for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, or Android.

Make sure you're downloading from ledger.com to avoid phishing scams.

Step 3: Initialize Your Device

Plug your Ledger into your computer or mobile device and open Ledger Live. Select “Set up as new device” if this is your first time.

You’ll be asked to:

Choose a PIN code

Write down your 24-word recovery phrase (do this offline and keep it secure!)

Confirm your recovery phrase

This recovery phrase is the only way to restore access to your wallet. Ledger never stores this information. Never share it with anyone.

Step 4: Add Accounts and Install Apps

Once your device is initialized, you can use Ledger Live to:

Install crypto apps (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana)

Add and name your accounts

Receive and send crypto securely

Ledger supports over 5,500 digital assets and tokens. All transactions must be approved on your Ledger device, ensuring your private keys never leave the secure chip.

Step 5: Stay Safe & Up to Date

Security is an ongoing process. Here's how to stay protected:

Always verify the sender when receiving messages claiming to be from Ledger.

Bookmark https://ledger.com and avoid search engine links to prevent phishing.

Enable firmware updates on your Ledger device to ensure the latest protections.

Consider using a Passphrase for extra security (advanced users only).

You're Ready to Go

Your crypto is now secured by the world’s leading hardware wallet. Manage it confidently, knowing you’re protected by Ledger’s state-of-the-art security infrastructure.
